Important: To migrate Shared Estimations data with JCMA, your Jira Data Center instance must be running Shared Estimations version 4.4.0 or later. Upgrade before starting the migration.
This page explains how to migrate the Shared Estimations app from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA), and what data will be migrated as part of the process.
Overview
Shared Estimations integrates with the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) to provide a guided and reliable migration path from Data Center to Cloud. When you migrate projects with JCMA, the app-related configuration and estimation data associated with those projects can be migrated automatically to your Jira Cloud site.
The migration is project-based: when you select projects for migration in JCMA, the Shared Estimations configuration and data that belong to those projects are included in the migration scope, subject to the limitations described in this guide.
What Is Migrated
Global Configuration
Shared Estimations provides a global configuration that allows Jira administrators to control where the app is available. As part of a JCMA-driven migration, Global Shared Estimations configuration is migrated to the target Jira Cloud site.
Issues Estimation Data
Estimation data managed by Shared Estimations is migrated automatically when the associated project is migrated with JCMA, provided that:
-
The project is included in a JCMA migration plan.
-
Shared Estimations is installed and connected in both the Data Center and Cloud environments.
For issues that are in scope of the migration and not archived, Shared Estimations estimation data will be migrated and linked to the corresponding issues in Jira Cloud.
What Is Not Migrated
Archived issue data is not migrated. Estimation data stored by Shared Estimations for archived issues in Jira Data Center will not be available in Jira Cloud after migration.
This means:
-
If an issue is archived in Jira Data Center, its associated Shared Estimations data will not be migrated to Cloud.
